This course is designed for MA SANE Adult/Adolescent SANE nurses to be cross trained so that they may take of children age 11 and under in the ER setting for acute sexual assault cases. This course will provide information regarding pediatric sexual assault and will focus on evidence collection procedures. Additional information regarding pediatric sexual assault cases that will be covered include: Developmental considerations when caring for children, communication techniques when talking with children and their guardians, genital anatomy, examination techniques, and sexually transmitted infections to consider.
